Description

A classic rock rarity

Blues-influenced rock singer-songwriter (1943–1970) known for her distinctive voice and magnetic stage presence. Joplin, who performed both as the lead singer of San Francisco’s Big Brother and The Holding Company and as a solo artist, was found dead at the Landmark Hotel in Hollywood on October 4, 1970, most likely due to an overdose of heroin and whiskey. Vintage felt tip signature and inscription, “To Eddie, Love xxxx, Janis Joplin,” on an off-white 5 x 4.5 album page. Page has been protectively laminated. Uniform toning, not detracting from the boldness of the signature, otherwise fine condition. A very bold signature from one of rock’s most pioneering women. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RRAuction COA.
