Ike thanks a “thoughtful little girl” for a four-leaf clover “I am sure it cannot fail to bring me good luck”

TLS as president, one page, 6.5 x 8.5, White House letterhead, September 10, 1956. Letter of thanks to Kay Greer for a letter and a four-leaf clover. In full: “Thank you so much for wanting me to have the four leaf clover that you found. Since it comes from such a thoughtful little girl, I am sure it cannot fail to bring me good luck.” Framed to an overall size of 7.5 x 9.75. Uniform moderate toning, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by an original 10 x 8 photo of Eisenhower at his desk, with the little girl’s letter and four leaf clover visible in front of the president, and talking to another gentleman, notated in the gentleman’s hand, “President Eisenhower sends Kay Greer his personal wishes and receives her letter at the White House, 10 Sept. 56.” Photo is also framed to an overall size of 10.5 x 8.5, with heavy contrast to notation.
