Description

Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna

Mexican general and politician (1794–1876) best known in the US for his role in the Mexican-American War and the slaughter of scores of Americans at the Alamo. DS, in Spanish, signed “Ant. Lopez Santa Anna,” two pages, 11 x 17, October 30, 1843. An untranslated document nicely signed at the conclusion by Santa Anna. In good condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, scattered light toning, several tears to one vertical edge, with most of hinge missing and separated, scattered light creases and wrinkling, and light show-through from endorsements on reverse.
