In very good condition, with light overall creasing and wrinkling, uniform block of toning from previous display, with several heavier spots, and an uneven left edge. Oversized. Colonel Clarke was a friend of Dickens. In one of his stories, ‘Felicia Crompton,’ published in All the Year Round, Dickens pays tribute to his friend by using him as a kind and generous character: ‘My poor Felicia; my my darling, patient Felicia; she loved Colonel Clarke; they loved one another.
