TLS signed “With regret, Theodore Roosevelt,” one page, 7 x 10, Oyster Bay letterhead, April 15, 1916. Letter to Chauncey Hamlin. In full: “I wish I could come, but it is utterly impossible. You, of course, can imagine the multitude of requests for speech-making that I get.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, two through single letters of signature, pencil notation to bottom edge, uniform toning, and a bit of scattered light soiling.
