Two vintage matte-finish candid snapshot photos, one 4 x 3 and the other trimmed to 3.25 x 3, taken onboard the USS Missouri during the official Japanese surrender ceremonies on September 2, 1945, each signed in fountain pen by MacArthur. One image shows the general arriving and the battleship and the other as he signs as America’s representative. The photos are affixed to an album page by old corner mounts and removable. Brush to one signature, moderate contrast of his first name on another photo, spots of soiling, and some silvering to the darker areas, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by four unsigned snapshots taken during the ceremony and three foreign currency notes affixed to the reverse of the album page with old clear tape. MacArthur-signed examples of this iconic image are rarely encountered. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
