Description

In a rare handwritten letter, Harding pens a hearty recommendation

Two ALSs, both dated January 13, 1911, on his personal letterhead. First letter, signed “W. G. Harding,” is to Mrs. L. S. Carlisle forwarding a letter of recommendation. In full: ”Find letter of recommendation enclosed. I do not know that it is exactly what you want, but hope it will meet your requirements. At any note, it is a great pleasure to write it, and I sincerely hope it will prove useful to you.” The second letter, the actual letter of recommendation, signed “W. G. Harding, Pres. Harding Publishing Co.,” reads, in part: “It is a pleasure to commend Mrs. L. S. Carlisle as a very capable newspaper writer.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds and scattered toning. Harding is surprisingly scarce in handwritten letters. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
