Eccentric horse-faced character actress (1883–1942). During the 1930s, she was one of the best-known character actresses in American films, often playing tart-tongued spinsters. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 United Artists promotional photo of Oliver as Augusta Pritchard in The Last Gentleman, signed and inscribed in-person in fountain pen “To Saul, Edna May Oliver.” Reverse of photo bears collector’s stamp date of July 12, 1940, the date the signature was acquired. Scattered light surface marks and impressions, and a small surface tear to top left, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
