Silent star (1901–1990) who converted to ‘talkies’ and is best remembered for his on screen romances with actress Janet Gaynor in more than a dozen films. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in-person in fountain pen. Reverse of photo bears collector’s stamp date of September 30, 1939, the date the signature was acquired. Reverse also bears a 1932 Roxy stamp and pencil notation in another hand reading, “Charles Farrell in ‘After Tomorrow.’” In fine condition, with scattered light creases, surface marks, and impressions from note on reverse, and some minor emulsion chipping to bottom edge.
