ALS signed "Louis Armstrong (Satchmo)," two pages, 8.5 x 11, July 28, 1970. Letter written while recuperating from an illness. The pages are written on the back of photocopies of his advertisement for "Lose Weight the Satchmo Way," with each page bearing a pre-printed signature. In part: "Since I have been home from the hospital, I've been doing a lot of listening to my tapes - and most of my recordings, are on them…I hate to put you through too much trouble as I go down the list I shall jot down the ones that I don't have." In fine condition, with mild uniform toning from previous display, and a few edge and corner creases. Interesting reading on both sides of the sheets. Ironically, as his recorded output reached its nadir, Armstrong's popularity soared to its all-time peak. Spurred by the unexpected worldwide success of 'Hello Dolly' (a song he had forgotten even recording), he was suddenly in demand for every television venue available. The day after writing this letter, he would would appear on the Dick Cavett Show in New York City. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
