Description

Rarely found imperial-size portrait of the young Thomas Edison

Original sepia 7.25 x 13 gilt-edged imperial cabinet photo of young Edison in a three-piece suit, by Falk Studios of New York, circa pre-turn-of-the century, signed in black ink with his bold 'umbrella' signature "Thomas A. Edison." In very good to fine condition, with a few scattered light spots to image, one over a small portion of Edison's 'umbrella,' a light crease through portion of upper background of image, missing top left corner tip, and scattered edge wear and chipping. Such large, imperial-size portraits of the inventor the rarely found. The immensity of this particular example is further complemented by the youthfulness of Edison's visage and bold, full signature. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
