Impressively clean and authoritatively presented infantry commission

Remarkably fresh vellum DS as president, signed “Woodrow Wilson,” one page, 15 x 18.5, August 4, 1916. Wilson appoints “Benjamin C. Lockwood, Jr….First Lieutenant of Infantry in the service of the United States, to rank as such from first day of July, nineteen hundred and sixteen.” Countersigned by his secretary of war. The blue War Office seal is intact. Double cloth-matted with a small portrait and framed to an overall size of 28.75 x 26.25. In fine condition with light intersecting central folds and light wrinkling. Oversized. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
