Monroe approves the sale of 160 acres of land to an Indiana resident

Vellum DS as president, signed “James Monroe,” one page, 13.5 x 9, May 15, 1821. Monroe grants “John Finger of Orange county, Indiana…one hundred and six acres of the Lands, directed to be sold at Vincennes by the Act of Congress…in the Territory south west of the Ohio, and above the mouth of the Kentucky River.” Intact seal of the US General Office affixed. Double-matted with a full-length engraved portrait and framed to an overall size of 26.25 x 15.5. Intersecting folds (one passing through Monroe’s last name), trimmed edges, small area of paper loss to the far left side, and show-through from mounting adhesive on the reverse, otherwise fine condition. Oversized. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
