Football coach (1913-1987) who is best remembered for his 28-year tenure at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio from 1951-1978. Despite his great achievements at Ohio State, Hayes' coaching career ended ignominiously when he was fired after striking an opposing player during the 1978 Gator Bowl. Very early vintage glossy 8 x 10 Ohio State University photo of Hayes posing proudly on the Ohio State field, signed in fountain pen, "Sincere regards, Woody Hayes."
