Signer of the Declaration of Independence from New York (1716–1778). Manuscript DS, signed "Ph. Livingston Junr," one page both sides, 8 x 12.75, May 31, 1769. Document regarding the contesting of the estate of William Sherif, in which Livingston orders the High Sheriff that Willett Taylor "personally appears before me, at Fort George…and that he then and there show cause if any there be, why Administration of the Estate of the said William Sherif may not be granted unto John Anderson said to be the principal creditor." Accompanied by the detached second integral page. Horizontal folds, scattered light toning, a few edge chips, and a pencil notation to top of front page, otherwise fine condition. In his 1995 reference History Comes to Life, Kenneth Rendell places Livingston's autograph material into the "rare" category among the Signers. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
