Description

His supply of photos long gone, Cobb promises a young fan that if he can find his likeness “I will be happy to do my part”

LS, one page both sides, 5.25 x 3.25, May 1, 1948. Transcribed in another hand, the Georgia Peach responds to a fan’s letter. In part: “I appreciate very much your thought and kindness to me while I was in hospital in Boston. Relative to autographed picture, many years have passed since I retired and long since have exhausted supply of pictures. If you can secure one, I will be happy to do my part.” In fine condition. A surprisingly polite piece of correspondence from one of the most aggressive players of his day! Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
