Uncommon ALS signed “Natalie,” one page, 7.75 x 9.5, personal letterhead, no date (but most likely circa 1976). Letter to Herman. In full: “I just received these copies of the ‘Cat’ contract from our business office. I believe the $40,000 compensation figure is incorrect. In every conversation we ever had with anyone regarding compensation, the fee was always $50,000 for each of us plus living expenses, drivers, & plane fares. This must be an extreme error–would appreciate you checking this out. Many thanks–See you soon!” Double suede matted and framed, with a photo of Wood from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, to an overall size of 29.5 x 21.5. In fine condition.
This one-of-a-kind piece of correspondence referencing Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (a television adaptation of which Wood was working on in 1976) was likely sent to a representative of Granada Television in the United Kingdom, where production was taking place. The “each of us” in the letter refers to herself and husband Robert Wagner, who co-starred in the 1976 production, the first of a series of American plays produced by fellow co-star Laurence Olivier. The tone of the letter—with Wood outlining her case—clearly shows who was in charge of the couple’s business affairs! Oversized. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
