Lincoln endorsement eight days before delivering the Gettysburg Address

War-dated handwritten endorsement on a 3 x 2.25 off-white slip clipped from a larger sheet, signed as president, “Submitted to the Secretary of War, A. Lincoln, Nov. 11, 1863.” Cloth-matted with a portrait of the president to an overall size of 12.25 x 18.25. In fine condition with show-through from words on the reverse. This endorsement was penned a little over one week before the president delivered the Gettysburg Address, one of the most important speeches in American history.
