Star running back at Syracuse University; first black player to win the Heisman Trophy (1961); drafted by the Washington Redskins and traded to Cleveland but died the following year from leukemia before playing a pro game. Handwritten and signed class notes, on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of lined notebook paper, signed in the top border on one side in blue ballpoint, “Ernie Davis,” and dated at the top, “5/12/60.” Notes appear to be for a business class, in Davis’s difficult to decipher hand, as several of the words are “Business,” “profit,” and “capitalism.” Rough left edge, and some scattered light toning, otherwise fine condition.
