Description

Bell signs a check in the heyday of his aeronautical company

Bank check, 8.25 x 3, filled out in another hand and signed by Bell, payable to Sarah McDonald for $16.00, April 6, 1909. In very good condition, with several vertical folds, a couple through single letters of signature, bank stamp to body, small hole to left side, scattered light staining and toning, and small ledger remnant affixed to left edge. In 1907, four years after the Wright Brothers first flew at Kitty Hawk, Bell formed the Aerial Experiment Association with Glenn Curtiss, William ‘Casey’ Baldwin, Thomas Selfridge, and J. A. D.
