Description

Inventor of the telegraph “cheerfully” complies with an autograph request

ANS signed “Saml. F. B. Morse,” one page, lightly-lined, 7.75 x 3, December 11, 1860. Brief note in response to a signature request. In full: “I cheerfully comply with your request.” A central vertical fold, scattered light toning over signature and portion of text, and a few stray ink marks, otherwise fine condition. Morse’s mood was probably bolstered at this time as he had finally been awarded thousands of dollars by countries who had been using his invention for years. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
