Description

“My love for Palm Springs makes me a bit self-conscious when trying to put it into written words”

ALS, one page, 6 x 9.25, November 22, 1935. Letter to H. Grant Wood of the Palm Springs News in which Clarke affectionately describes her relationship with Palm Springs, California. In part: “I am very possessive about it; always referring to it as my particular place. It has given me peace and contentment, health and happiness, enjoyment and appreciation. All these things deserve and receive my whole-hearted and everlasting gratitude. My love for Palm Springs makes me a bit self-conscious when trying to put it into written words. Our affection is of five years standing and we’re only just beginning—Palm Springs and I. And now may I please have a position with your Chamber of Commerce?” Intersecting folds, three small edge chips, and a few light creases and wrinkles, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
