Highly regarded American actor (1920–1966) best known for his Oscar-nominated turns in such classics as Judgment at Nuremberg, From Here to Eternity, and A Place in the Sun. A 1956 car accident which left him disfigured sent him on a downward spiral of substance abuse that earned him a reputation for unreliability and led to his death at the age of 45. Scarce vintage glossy 8 x 10 head-and-shoulders photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Jim, Monty Clift.” In very good condition, with central horizontal bend through facial area and single letter of signature, scattered surface impressions and dings, and a few creases.
