Description

With her husband engaged in D-Day preparations, Mrs. FDR inscribes an informal photo from the 1943 Quebec Conference

Vintage glossy 10 x 8 photo from the 1943 Quebec Conference of Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt, Mr. and Mrs. Winston Churchill, Princess Alice, the Earl of Athlone, and MacKenzie King, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Raymond Y. Geise, with good wishes. Eleanor Roosevelt.” Scattered creases and surface marks, scattered silvering to darker areas of image, and adhesive residue along top border, otherwise very good condition. The First Quebec Conference (code named QUADRANT) was a high-level military conference held during World War II between the British, Canadian, and United States governments. The allies agreed to increase the bombing offensive against Germany and continue the buildup of American forces in Britain prior to an invasion of France, which would be known as Operation Overlord (D-Day). Roosevelt is not common in signed photographs, and this is a particularly unusual pose. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
