Description

Pound writes a fellow author concerning a literary affair

American modernist writer and critic (1885–1972) whose works, particularly his poetry, occupy a central place in twentieth-century letters. TLS on a 4.5 x 3.5 postal coard, no date but postmarked November 18, 1929. Pound writes author George Herbert Thring of Britain’s Society of Authors. In full: “I get your point, and think it would hold if Unwin’s article appeared alone, but it comes only as the third in the Little Review series and 4th in New Age series. Seems to me it is merely corroboration from a different source. I shall add a foot-note reinforcing my own contentions for the ‘immaterial component’ (sorry N.Age with my article is out of print. You shall have L.Review with it in, as soon as it arrives.)” Above his first sentence, Pound has written the notation, “1st by American author. 2nd by English author.” Lower right corner bend, mild toning along the left edge, postal cancelation, and two staple holes with rust stains, otherwise fine condition. Interesting literary connection with Pound referencing George Allen and Unwin, a major British publishing company of the era. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
