Color limited edition print titled “Naval Aviation in Space,” 21.5 x 27, #264/1000, signed in pencil by nine astronauts, all former Naval aviators, representing all of NASA’s space programs. Signers are: Alan Shepard (first American in Space and Apollo 14 Commander/moonwalker), Neil Armstrong (Apollo 11 Commander and first moonwalker), Pete Conrad (Commander of Gemini, Apollo 12 moonwalker and Skylab missions), Jack Lousma (Skylab astronaut), John Glenn (first American to orbit the earth), Gene Cernan (Commander of Apollo 17 and the "Last man on the Moon”), Jim Lovell (Commander of Apollo 8, the first flight to/around the moon), Wally Schirra (the only Mercury Astronaut to fly in the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs), and Rick Hauck (Commander of the first shuttle flight after the Challenger tragedy), and also signed by the artist, R. L. Rasmussen. Double matted and framed to an overall size of 26 x 33. In fine condition. The signatures represent the first American in space, and the first American to orbit the earth, and the first and last men to walk on the moon. The nine astronauts who signed were part of a symposium held at the Naval Aviation Museum in 1989 and the print was originally issued as a fund-raiser. Oversized.
