Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Pennsylvania (1742–1798). In 1789, he became one of the original nine justices appointed by George Washington to the Supreme Court. Fine ink signature, “James Wilson,” on an off-white 2.5 x .75 slip clipped from a larger document. In very good condition, with show-through from writing on reverse, and a small spot of paper residue and small square of thin paper behind the signature on the reverse from past mounting.
