Colorful first lady sends money to the bank

Third-person ALS, one page, 5 x 7.5, November 22, 1841. Short letter to her banker Richard Smith. In full: “The enclosed $50 for discount with Mrs. Madison’s best respects to Mr. Smith.” Adjoining second page bears an address in Madison’s hand, “Richard Smith, Washington.” Suede matted and framed with a color portrait of Madison, to an overall size of 18 x 22.5. In very good to fine condition, with scattered toning and soiling to both pages, and a vertical docket through address panel. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
