Five months before signing, Pennsylvania’s Clymer builds up Fort Island’s defenses

Revolutionary War–dated ADS, signed “Geo. Clymer,” one page, 8.25 x 5, March 8, 1776. Document, written by Clymer as a member of the Fort Island Committee. In full, “Please pay to Messrs. James Worral and Robert Allison, one hundred pounds for the purchase of logs for the defense of Fort Island agreeable to directions of the Committee of Safety.” Signed at the conclusion by Clymer as well as James and Owen Biddle. In very good condition, with central horizontal and vertical folds, three tape repairs to partial separations on reverse, light show-through from docketing on reverse, a couple small edge tears, and chipped lower right corner. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
