Edmund Gwenn

British-born character actor (1875–1959) who won the Academy Award for his supporting role as Kris Kringle in the holiday classic Miracle on 34th Street. ALS, one page, 8.5 x 11, MCA letterhead, May 24, 1950. Letter to a student planning to travel abroad. In part: “You do not say when you are going to Edinburgh but I am sure you will love it…the City itself is so beautiful, so rich in historical associations & so surrounded with the most fascinating scenery that…you will undoubtable come under its spell…The University has turned put some of the finest medical men in the world. I owe my life to one of them…you will find grand rugby footballers among your fellow students. In my youth I played against Scotsmen many times.” Scattered light toning and creasing, mostly to edges and corners, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed by Gwenn. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
