John C. Frémont

Prominent American explorer, military officer, and politician (1813–1890) who mapped the Oregon Trail, played a prominent part in conquering California during the Mexican War, and ran in 1856 as the first Republican presidential candidate. LS signed “J. C. Frémont,” one page, 4.5 x 7, January 13. Letter to Col. J. M. Tower. In part: “I have spoken to my associates of your visit to me some few days since in reference to placing a colony of Danes upon Mexican lands. They will be glad to see you if it suits your convenience …” Frémont addresses the letter under his signature as well. Intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, and a few light creases, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
