Texas pioneer stays an execution

Founder of the American lead industry and the first man to obtain permission to bring Anglo-American settlers into Spanish Texas. Manuscript DS, one page, 7.75 x 4.25, July 7, 1812. Document issued to the Sheriff of the District of St. Genevieve Henry Dodge. In full: “You may stay the execution against Wm Moss - Bates in favour of Horace Austin for my use Wm Bates satisfying the cost of suit - Moses Austin." In fine condition, with intersecting folds, light overall toning, and light show-through from docketing on reverse. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
