Document reads, in part: “On this 30th day of November 1928 in Latitude 00000 and Longitude 81.47 W…M. L. Caniff having been found worthy to be numbered as one of our Trusty Shellbacks has been duly initiated into the Solemn Mysteries of the Ancient Order of the Deep.” Signed in the lower border by Hoover, and countersigned in print by Davey Jones and Neptunus Rex.
