The first Union general to be killed in the American Civil War and is noted for his actions in the state of Missouri at the beginning of the conflict. Ink signature, “N. Lyon, 1st Lt. 2d Inf,” on an off-white 2.5 x 1.5 slip. Signature is affixed to a 7.5 x 4.5 sheet above a collector’s short manuscript biography.
