Land grant issued to the Sheriff of Vigo County, Indiana

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 15.5 x 9.5, August 9, 1824. President Monroe grants 71 acres of land to Thomas H. Clark. Signed at the conclusion by Monroe, and countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office George Graham. In very good condition, with three vertical folds, one through a single letter of signature, scattered toning and wrinkling, a bit of light spotting and surface wear along one fold. The paper seal is intact, but worn. Thomas H. Clark, the recipient of this land grant, served as Sheriff of Vigo County, Indiana, from 1823-1824.
