Monagan, Democratic Congressional Representative from Connecticut and an early supporter of Kennedy in his successful run for the presidency. In full: “Thank you for your letter and I know President Kennedy would be deeply touched by the knowledge that you wish to present Canterbury School with a copy of his Inaugural Address. I do hope - that in the years to come - it will serve as an inspiration to all those who read it, as well as a reminder of President Kennedy and all he meant to our country. It is my feeling that this copy of the Inaugural Address should stand alone, and that I should not write across the page and perhaps detract in any way from its message. Instead I am enclosing a short note which I hope you may find to be suitable. I shall always remember your wish to perpetuate the President's memory and I cannot think of a more fitting tribute to his name.” Accompanied by an original 15 x 20 engrossed copy of Kennedy's 1961 Inaugural Address on faux-parchment paper toned top and bottom, printed in 1963 by Clint W. Lee Company, Bellevue, Washington. Scattered mild toning and foxing, otherwise fine condition.
