Massachusetts lawyer (1731–1814) who served as one of the prosecutors of British soldiers during the Boston Massacre trial; he later signed the Declaration of Independence. ADS, signed “R.T. Paine, Atty” one page, 8 x 4.75, June 2, 1781. Handwritten legal document, in Paine’s difficult to decipher hand regarding “Sarah Gladden of Rehobeth…single woman…commits fornication with a man…in aid example to others to offend in like manner against the charge of the Commonwealth.” Signed at the conclusion by Paine.
