Vintage matte-finish 7 x 9 photo of a pensive-looking Disney, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Justin Michmann, Walt Disney, London ‘35.” In very good condition, with a noticeable moderate vertical crease through portion of facial area and two letters of the signature, the end of the signature light but legible, a few trivial corner tip creases, and some light silvering to darker areas.
In June 1935, Walt, his brother Roy, and their families embarked on an extended European holiday. Although married for ten years, Disney and his wife Lillian visited London for a belated honeymoon. Later, when Disney was ready to begin production on more ambitious features, he hired some of the European artists he had met on this trip to join his staff and help design Snow White, Pinocchio and Fantasia.
