Original vintage 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite photo of General Grant by E. & H. T. Anthony of New York from a Brady negative, and so stamped on the reverse, signed in black ink on the lower portion of the image and border, “U. S. Grant, General.” There is light show-through from a curious upside down caption at the top for Major General McClellan visible: evidently, during the manufacturing process, Grant’s images were placed on McClellan’s cards for an unknown reason. In fine condition, with a touch of light soiling to lower right corner, and light show-through from covered caption at top. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
