Official Spalding National League (Giles) baseball signed in black ink on a side panel by the first American to walk in space, “Edward H. White II GT-4,” and in black felt tip, “James A. McDivitt.” Notation above McDivitt’s signature in another hand reads, “25 June ‘65.” Originally obtained from the personal collection of former Mets pitcher Larry Miller. The signatures were obtained when the Mets visited NASA a few weeks after the Gemini 4 mission. In very good condition, with mostly even overall toning to ball, some scattered light surface marks and flaking, a bit slightly affecting end of McDivitt’s signature. Due to White’s untimely passing in the Apollo I space tragedy, this is a most unusual and presentable format. Pre-certified Scott Cornish and RRAuction COA.
