Andrew Johnson

DS as president, one page, 16 x 11.5, September 2, 1868. Johnson appoints Edward S. Deane to the position of First Lieutenant in the Revenue Cutter Service. Signed at the bottom by Johnson. Matted with a small portrait of Johnson, to an overall size of 32 x 16. In good condition, with signature light but legible, several professional repairs to vertical tears and fold separations, one affecting a small portion of signature, and expected folds and some light toning. Oversized. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
