THE THRONE AGE: JAMES I and QUEEN ANNE sign together

British monarch (born 1566) who ruled as James VI of Scotland from 1567 and as King of Great Britain (the first ruler so designated) from 1603 until his death in 1625. During his reign as England’s first Stuart king, James authorized the well-known version of the Anglican Bible which came to bear his name and oversaw his country’s involvement in the Thirty Years’ War. He married the 14-year-old Anne of Denmark, daughter of Frederick II (the “Great”), in 1589. Scarce manuscript DS, in Latin, signed at upper left “James R” and “Anna R,” one page on vellum, 21 x 21.5, [date unknown; 1619 or earlier]. An untranslated official document. The document retains its original wax pendant seal, measuring approximately 3.5″ in diameter, attached at the bottom margin and protected by a custom fitted box. In very good condition, with intersecting folds (small hole at central intersection) and scattered light soiling and staining. both signatures are clear and dark.
