DS, one slightly irregular page, approximately 7.75 x 4.5, November 23, 1820. A receipt for $22.25 paid by Jackson to tailor John E. Linn for clothing made for Jackson’s children, including both finished items (e.g., “coat for Charles,” roundabout, pantaloons) and the materials used therein (including velvet, cambric, buttons, and silk). Jackson has written a statement at the bottom, “Rec’d of Andrew Jackson a check on the B. bank of the State of Tennessee at Nashville in full of the above amount,” which has been signed by the tailor; Jackson has also added an endorsement to the reverse, including the signature “A. Jackson.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds (edge separations. vertical fold to “A” of first signature), faint show-through of ink, and mild toning and soiling.
