Hildreth (1902–1988), who had previously served as Governor of Maine, remained in his diplomatic post until 1957. Countersigned by Secretary of State John Foster Dulles. The embossed paper seal remains intact. Slight brush to last two letters of signature, a hint of subtle soiling and handling wear, and slight toning to seal, otherwise fine condition.
