Future trouble spot: Ike appoints the U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan

DS as president, one page, 10 x 14, January 13, 1955. An appointment for Horace A. Hildreth as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Pakistan. Hildreth (1902–1988), who had previously served as Governor of Maine, remained in his diplomatic post until 1957. Countersigned by Secretary of State John Foster Dulles. The embossed paper seal remains intact. Slight brush to last two letters of signature, a hint of subtle soiling and handling wear, and slight toning to seal, otherwise fine condition.
