Description

Lennon signed Sgt. Pepper album acquired at the 1975 Helping Hands radiothon

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album signed on the inside of the gatefold in red ballpoint above his image, “John Lennon.” Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient, who acquired the autograph at a radio station fundraiser in Philadelphia in 1975. He writes, “For a donation John Lennon would sign his autograph. I brought this album…and he signed above his photo on the inside cover.” In May of 1975 Lennon took a train from New York to Philadelphia to help out with a charity radiothon on WFIL. While there, Lennon (who hadn't made public appearances in years) spent hours on the air, answered phones, signed autographs, and personally met nearly 2,000 fans who flocked to see him. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light wear to front cover, and a moderate ‘ring of wear’ to back cover as well as some scattered rubbing, and some loss to the top edge and corner of the spine. The record is included. COA Roger Epperson/REAL and R&R COA.
