Description

John Lennon doodles done while at Yoko’s side in rehab in 1970

Four unsigned felt tip doodles done by John Lennon on the front cover of a London Clinic informational booklet, 6 x 8, sixteen pages. Lennon has sketched a long-haired male figure, a woman in a dress, another standing male figure and a sheep with a black head and legs. Booklet was originally owned by a registered night duty nurse at the clinic, when Yoko Ono was admitted as a patient between March 5-9, 1970, with Lennon remaining by her side for the duration of her stay. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the nurse, Jackie Chandler, stating “When they had vacated the room they left behind this booklet. On the front cover, John had drawn 4 little drawings.” Also included is a copy of a March 15, 1970 letter from Chandler to her parents, mentioning “Remember I said John Lennon & Yoko had been in the clinic? Well, they were in again last week…Yoko was the patient, but once again John stayed there all the time…She managed to grab a London Clinic book that John had scribbled a few doodles on, and brought it home!” In fine condition, with some minor brushes to one doodle, and some light creasing and soiling to front cover. COA Roger Epperson/REAL and R&R COA.
