Longtime Emperor of Ethiopia (1892–1975) who reigned from 1930 to 1974. Selassie was one of the most revered figures among followers of the Rastafari movement, whose members viewed him as a symbol of God incarnate. Scarce vintage matte-finish 5 x 7.25 photo of a regal young Selassie on an 8.25 x 11.25 mount, circa 1920s, signed in fountain pen on the image (one stroke extending onto mount). A few unobtrusive bends and creases to mount (well away from image and signature) which can easily be matted out, and silvering to dark areas of the image, otherwise fine, visually appealing condition. A most arresting image and the earliest we have ever encountered! LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
