Description

Clapton signs his unrequited love album

Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs album signed on the front cover in blue felt tip, “Eric Clapton 87.” In fine condition, with slight ‘ring of wear’ to cover. Clapton’s close friendship with George Harrison had brought him into contact with Harrison’s wife Pattie Boyd-Harrison, with whom he fell deeply in love. When she turned him down, Clapton’s unrequited affections prompted most of the material for the Dominos’ album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, most notably the hit single "Layla", inspired by the Persian classical poet Nizami Ganjavi’s “The Story of Layla and Majnun,” a copy of which a friend had given him; Clapton found a strong similarity between the situation of Layla and Majnun and the one between him and Boyd-Harrison. The record is included. COA Roger Epperson/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
