Backless album signed and inscribed in ballpoint by five. On the front cover: “To Rose with love from George Harrison XX”; “To Rose with love, Elton [John] X”; and “To Rose the nicest in the world (even Ripley!), Pete Townshend.” On the interior (in a hand-drawn speech balloon next to his photo): “All my love Rose Amelia, Eric Clapton, XXX.” On the back cover: “To Rose, Muddy Waters” and “Dearest (Mum) Rose, all my love, Pattie [Harrison/Clapton].” Five others who were evidently present have also signed. Clapton was raised by his grandparents, Rose and Jack Clapp, and indeed grew up believing that they were his true parents. Given the warm, affectionate inscriptions (most notably, Patti’s “Mum”) it seems a distinct possibility that Mrs. Clapp was the original recipient. A one-of-a-kind confluence of five of the greatest names in the history of rock!
