Description

President Wilson comes up with a creative and polite attempt to avoid a book on railroad finance, “Books have not been part of my diet. I must admit since I got here.”

TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, February 25, 1915. President Wilson sends thanks for a book, though he has little time for reading. In part, “Mr. Winthrop Daniels has been kind enough to hand me the copy of your book on Railroad Finance…I hope that it will be possible for me to read the greater part of it, though books have not been part of my diet. I must admit since I got here the days do not seem long enough.” In very good condition, with signature light and washed out but legible, light toning and a bisecting vertical fold. R&R COA.
